In the production of cables, the major material is PVC, followed by polyethylene and thermoplastic elastomers. The use of plastics in cable manufacture is mainly influenced by modernization of electrical and telecommunication networks. Supply cables form almost 70% of the demand for plastic utilized in the production and sheathing of cables. In addition, there are telecommunication applications, as well as cables for the automotive and mining sectors, and specialized sectors such as aviation.
