The building industry is the second largest sector to use plastic, equalling 20.1% of the total European consumption.
In addition to the production of packaging materials, the building industry is another major consumer of plastic products. PVC pipes and sections are the most widespread components; in addition, polyethylene is important in the production of pipes and building foils. The main advantages of applying plastics in the building industry are their sustainability, innovation, cost efficiency, capacity for being recycled and minimal maintenance.
